The Top Shelf Process

In-Shop Spray Painting Process

  1. Submit a request for a free quote via email, text or phone. We will supply in home consultation, free quote, agree on services and colours, access to work times and start and completion dates.
  2. We will arrive at your home on the dates and times stated and remove the cabinet doors and drawers to process in the shop.
  3. At the shop, we remove all hardware.
  4. All surfaces are cleansed and degreased.
  5. All surfaces will be sanded to ensure excellent primer adhesion. Damage and repairs will be dealt with and holes filled and sanded.
  6. All surfaces to be painted will be vacuumed and rinsed until as dust free as possible. Wood such as oak with heavy grain will now be prepared to receive primer. This is where we acknowledge that an excellent paint job is 90% preparation.
  7. 2-3 coats of B I N and Stix primer are professionally applied as needed. Two types of primer are used to ensure odour and stain blocking and excellent adhesion to achieve a smooth, strong substrate for the paint to adhere to. These primers are formulated to provide the strength and sealing needed to perform on cabinetry.
  8. The primer coats are smoothed and sanded as needed. Any imperfections, holes or damage previously missed will be finished now. The primer often highlights issues not seen in the unpainted wood.
  9. With all surfaces primed, repaired, smooth and dust free, we will professionally spray the two to three top coats required for an excellent, smooth, beautiful and enduring finished result.
  10. Inspect and ensure desired results.
  11. Apply protective wrapping of door/drawers for transport.
  12. Return the customer’s shop painted doors, install and adjust cabinet doors as required to achieve desired result.
  13. Ensure complete customer satisfaction.

At Top Shelf, our main goal is always to ensure customer satisfaction.
